Policy

Each year, UNYA divisions choose a topic for the foundation of their policy campaign. Policy campaigns are designed to reflet members’ or youth concern, with issues being explored such as Indigenous Health, Refugee Policy, Climate Change, Substance abuse, Sustainable Development and the Responsibility to Protect, amongst many other topics. Divisions actively consult with young people on their chosen policy topic at various events, all of which culminates in a policy paper to be submitted to UNYA National, and then to relevant politicians and agencies.

This year, UNYA QLD is focusing their policy campaign on Aid and Development by exploring the various definitions of development, how development should be executed, the role of aid and how to make aid targeted and effective. So far, UNYA Qld has had a number of workshops and brainstorming sessions, as well as a speaker session with a development lecturer.
